The famous Eiffel Tower is a freestanding vertical framework tower situated on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is one of the most appreciated and recognized structures in the world. The company of Alexander Gustave Eiffel built Eiffel Tower from 1887 to 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair. Some of France’s leading artists and intellectuals initially criticized it for its design. However, today it is a global architectural and cultural symbol for France.

The structure of the famous Eiffel Tower is 324 meters (1,063 feet) tall. It is about the hight of an 81-storied building. Not to forget, Eiffel Tower was the world’s first structure to reach a height of 300 meters. There are three levels in Eiffel Tower for the visitors, the first and second levels consisting of restaurants. The top level’s upper platform is 276 meters (903 feet) high and it is the highest observation deck in the world.

The weight of the famous Eiffel Tower wrought iron of the Eiffel Tower is 7,300 tons. In addition to that, the lifts, shops, and antennae have made a total weight of approximately 10,100 tons.

During the building, there were three restaurants on the first level, a French, a Russian, and a Flemish. There was also an Anglo-American bar on the first level. Later, the Flemish restaurant changed to a 250-seater theatre. Also, at the top level, there was a laboratory and a small apartment Gustave to entertain the guests. The apartment is open to the public these days. The lifts take an average of 8 minutes and 50 seconds to make a round trip. The painting of the tower has three shades, lighter at the top, gradually getting darker at the bottom.

The nearest Paris Metro station to the famous Eiffel Tower is Bir-Hakeim. Whereas, Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel is the nearest RER (Reseau Express Regional, local city-center underground rail system) station. Eiffel Tower is situated at the intersection of Quai Branly and the Pont d’Iena. Hence, the connectivity is unquestionable.

Since 1989, more than 250 million people have visited Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower is the highest visited monument in the world. Although one has to pay a ticket price for visiting. On an average, 25,000 people visit the tower daily.

Eiffel Tower currently has 2 restaurants, Le 58 Tour Eiffel and Le Jules Verne. Additionally, there is a champagne bar at the top level of the tower. From 1937-1981, there was another restaurant on the top level, which authorities had to remove due to structural consideration.

Being an iconic structure of the world, the famous Eiffel Tower is an inspiration to many replicas and similar towers. Blackpool Tower (England), Tokyo Tower (Japan), Kings Island (USA), and Kings Dominion (USA) are some such scale models.

Eiffel Tower also has a use for the making of radio transmission since the beginning of the 20th century. On 11/20/1913, the Paris Observatory exchanged wireless signals with the US Naval Observatory using Eiffel Tower as an aerial.
