History of the world is one of the most interesting subjects to those interested in different aspects of human history. This includes how history has been affected by society and culture in the past. Some people choose to study this subject early because they enjoy learning about different historical periods. Others prefer to study it because they are interested in different civilizations and what each brought to the world during those times.

History Of Mankind As A Whole

The history of the world is the history of mankind as a whole. It is intimately associated with all the written histories of past civilizations, which form the major part of the world’s history. Archaeology, genetics, anthropology, linguistics, physiology, and many other disciplines describe the history of the world. For very wide periods since the origination of written history, it has been orally documented and often transmitted to future generations through museums and educational institutions.

Division Of The History Of The World

History of the world can be divided into four parts: the pre-historical history of the world, pre-classical history of the world, classical history of the world, and post-historical history of the world. The first part of the history of the world is that of the pre-historical world. It mainly covers the times before the Fall of Rome, the rise of Charlemagne, the Roman Empire, the Pax Romana, the dark ages, and the Renaissance. It can be divided further into the Iron Age, the Mediterranean, the Classical era, and the Middle Ages. All these eras of history have left their legacies in the form of artifacts and paintings.

What Is Pre-Historical History?

Pre-historical history of the world covers the time before written history. Thus, the written records do not contribute much to the understanding of human history. Written records only deal with events within a specific region or time frame. However, it is possible to reconstruct human history using comparative analysis of certain literary works written about the past.

In comparison to the world’s pre-historical history, the modern history of the world traces its origins to the beginnings of the twentieth century. Here, the major influence on human history is Western civilization, the Industrial revolution, the modernization of societies, and the rise of science and technology. Modern history also has its legacies from the Dark Ages. Europe was subjected to a long period of slavery during the time of the Roman Empire. The human population did not develop as planned, the concept of human rights was not developed, and there was no distinction between male and female slaves. Slavery played an important role in the evolution of the world economy and the establishment of civilization.

Post-historical history of the world, on the other hand, traces its influences from the post-modern period. It can be considered the human history of the world since the ending of the Cold War. With the ending of the Cold War, globalization made possible the movement of human populations, industry, and technology to different parts of the world. This resulted in cultural and ethnic diversity, the rise of transnational identity, the creation of international institutions, and the political and social integration of different cultures and ethnicities.

Factors Influencing Writing History

In addition to the above, writing history is influenced by two other factors. Writing history must incorporate a specific time frame to make the story’s events happen as they are. Second, writing the history of the world implies the knowledge and the skill to analyze and interpret historical resources and sources effectively. These skills are necessary for readers to know how different cultures and people view and perceive the past. Many other factors contribute to the development of the history of the world.

Oral History

Aside from writing history, oral history also contributes to the evolution of the history of the world. Oral history is the oral version of human history, wherein the chroniclers’ voice is presented to the audience. This oral history is very important for understanding civilizations’ development and the changes that took place during their existence. Oral history is very important in understanding the history of the world since it helps us learn about the different people, their ways of thinking, and their interactions with one another. It also provides clues regarding the period when certain events happened to help historians come up with accurate dates.
